The Quality Inns brand started out in 1985 with the partnership of Easton and Alison Hogben.

Their first project, The Pilot Inn at Hardwicke, quickly became a thriving centre of the community. With their great innovative ideas and strengths, the Hogben’s developed a fantastic dining experience for all the family.

Over the years the concept of high standards and offering "what the customer wants" flourished with the expansion of Quality Inns to include sites such as Friar Tuck's, The Apple Tree, The Red Lion and The Black Horse. All of which were previously suffering with failing trade and reputations. Through hard work and determination the husband and wife team turned around the businesses, and quickly restored them to being very popular, busy sites for families and diners.

The Quality Inns "Family" itself has grown in many ways, with the buying and selling of pubs and most recently welcoming the next generation of Hogben's into the fold. Having worked within the business for many years, Ward, Phern, Redford and Abbie are now looking towards a much stronger, broader future for Quality Inns, through their younger outlook and enthusiasm.

The idea of a family pub is well represented throughout Quality Inns and its new challenges highlight the company striving towards its mission statement:
